So the "Mr. Heater" name always throws us, but this small unit throws off enough heat to light small rooms, or the inside of a tent, if necessary. It connects to a propane tank — 1 lb throwaways or up to 20 lb, which the manuf. says must be kept outside. The manufacturer also says it is safe indoors. However, we still counsel allowing a source of fresh air in your space in case of a malfunction. Better, perhaps, to warm a room and then turn it off rather than leaving on all night. We put this in the "handy" but "be wary" category.

Be aware: Any type of heater used in an enclosed space is inherently dangerous. People die of carbon monoxide poisoning. This product has both a sensor to detect low oxygen levels and an auto-shut-off if knocked over. All that being said, we suggest utmost vigilance from this or any similar product. Perhaps better used when awake and aware; and then turn off before going to bed (and snuggling into bedding, coats, hats, gloves...).
Refer and follow all recommendations and instructions from the manufacturer.
This smaller, cheaper unit is fine for small spaces. The company also offers the "Big Buddy," which is larger and puts out more heat.
